1979 Mercury Capri

This is a 1979 Mercury Capri RS Turbo one owner all original survivor with only 61k miles and a clean title. This car is in excellent condition inside and out and runs and drives perfectly. It is all original including the paint. It has a new set of reproduction TRX alloy wheels with Pirelli tires on it so you can run modern 16" tires but we have the original metric TRX wheels and tires to go with the car. I did put a set of mild lowering springs on the car as the factory ride height is very high but we kept the original springs should the next owner want to put back to stock ride height. 1979 is the first year of the legendary Fox Body platform. The Capri was basically a European styled Ford Mustang. The Capri has lots of really cool special features over the Mustang like box fender flares, louvered tail lights, hatch louvers, straight multi bar grill, and special sail panel trim. The interior also has a special European flair with hounds tooth seat material, machine turned trim, special three spoke sport steering wheel, and a flip up/removable glass moon roof. This car is powered by a 2.3 liter 4 cylinder turbo charged engine that puts out 130hp mated to a 4 speed manual transmission. That might not seem like much but consider the time period and the fact the V-8 Mustang only put out 140hp. It the day, it was really cutting edge and was praised for its handling. This car is Genesis for what is to follow. It was Fords first entry into turbocharging which led to the SVO Mustang and even the Ecoboost cars of today. This car is a piece of automotive history and one of the best surviving examples left in existence. There were not many RS Turbos made in 1979. This special car is shown by appointment only.
